#MyBaliEscape : 2 Days Fun Itinerary in Ubud, Bali!

Ubud is one of the uplands town in Bali, surrounded by rainforest and packed with breath-taking rice paddies. The location is not too far from Denpasar. By land transport, it will only take you approximately one and a half hours until two hours, depends on the traffic.

Travellers, including me, are getting bored on visiting Denpasar, that is why other places in Bali, including Ubud, is gaining their popularity. If I’m going to visit Ubud, then here are the lists of what I want to do there, and I’m totally sure it’s going to be fun!

Itinerary - Day I

I live in Jakarta, so to reach Denpasar, Bali I could take the first flight and arrived at Bali approximately 8 a.m in the morning. Well, of course I need to wake up really early like on 4a.m in the morning to go to the airport and catch the flight. But heyyy, UBUD AWAITS ME!!

From Ngurah Rai Airport, I'll then going to Ubud using land transport about 2 hours. The first thing to do, is to take photos and make others jealous of me!! ;)

10.00AM – 10.30AM : Take a really deep breath of fresh air on Tegalalang Rice Terrace

Source: MikeBali.com

Here, I could see the magnificent view of the rice terrace. It’s one of the most famous tourist object here in Ubud, the rice terrace is really spacious, I could see green colour and it could make my day! The best thing, I could take a selfie and make others envy you!

11.00AM – 01.00PM : Having Brunch at Warung Bintang Bali

Source: qraved.com
If I am in Bali, then I need to taste their local food. Warung Bintang Bali here offers authentic Balinese food that I could try, with panoramic view around their restaurant. Great food to start the whole adventure today!

02.00PM – 05.00PM : Enjoy the beauty of Ayung River and swing!!

Source: Tripcanvas.com

Best thing to do in Bali, particularly Ubud, is nature activity, such as rafting. If the weather is great, I need to try rafting with a very good water stream on Ayung River. Besides that, I could try the swing ride from Zen Hideaway, wohoo!

06.00PM – 08.00PM : Dinner at The Sayan House

Source: qraved.com

What could be any better than dinner at the garden with dimly lit and forest view? Yes, I shouldn’t miss having dinner at the sayan house. I could close the day with a glass of wine too!

08.30PM : Check in at ZEN Rooms Ubud Jembawan

Source: zenrooms.com

Picking hotel is a tricky thing to do! I am in Bali, and this time I really need to enjoy it – even my hotel should be relaxing and have at least a touch of nature. Yep, it doesn’t need to be expensive as long as it makes me comfortable enough and rest after all of the activities I’ve been doing today. My choice goes to ZEN Rooms Ubud Jembawans, since it doesn’t look like a hotel at all – makes me feel home! with great views and of course, affordable price!

Itinerary - Day II

06.00AM – 09.00AM : Breakfast, enjoy the hotel facilities, packing and check out

I already pick a great hotel, complete with swimming pool. Well, no doubt that I need to enjoy those facilities, right? That is why I prefer to wake up early in the morning.

10.00AM – 12.00AM : Visiting Ubud Water Palace, Saraswati Temple
And using their traditional clothes! Bali is also famous for their temples, and whatever religion you are, you need to try and visit the temple. In here, I could see the lotus pond and also experience the warm-heart & friendly Balinese people.

12.30PM – 02.00PM : Last lunch at Ubud, La View Kupu-KupuBarong

Source : qraved.com

Before going back to Denpasar, I couldn’t miss out one more famous restaurant in Ubud, La View. Here, you could sit on the edge and enjoy the forest view while eating selections of French or Asian food. Oh, don’t forget to eat the dessert here, so your holiday will end up really sweet!

04.00PM : On the Airport, ready to back home to Jakarta!

The short trip in Ubud, Bali is indeed will be memorable if I could make this happen. Now, it’s time to head back to Jakarta, back to work! – and yes, tell the stories if let say this itinerary happens! ;)

"Bali" in Jakarta? Yes, Only at Lippo Mall Kemang (Kemang Village) !

Have you ever been to Bali, a.k.a. The Island of God, in Indonesia?
Well, if you have not and you’re a Jakarta Citizen, then you should be happy!
Because you can go to Lippo Mall Kemang, that is more famous to be called “Kemang Village” and enjoy Bali atmosphere with a secluded area here. You won’t hear any vehicle voices, and all of those loud “Tin! Tin! Tin!” on the road.

Lippo Mall Kemang or Kemang Village

Honestly, this is my first time ever going to Lippo Mall Kemang / Kemang Village. At first, I thought this mall is super small, and only a mall for those who live nearby, in the apartment. Surprise surprise, when I arrive, this mall is pretty huge, especially the outdoor or open restaurant area, which looks like Bali. Whoa, suddenly I’m super happy to be here!

Food Vaganza

I’m happier because there’s a Food Vaganza event that held in Lippo Mall Kemang. On that day, which is 12 April 2015, there’s Pak Bondan Winarno, with his famous word back then “Maknyus!” (anybody remember about this?) talking about “Tempe”, one of the traditional food in Indonesia.

Believe me, it’s enlightening my knowledge about Indonesian food even more, and I can’t believe that I just hear it directly from the expert. I’m so happy to see you, Pak Bondan!

So happy to watch him in person!

Besides you can meet up with famous people like Bondan and hear the talkshow, there’s also Cooking Competition, Cooking Demo, Gallery photos of Indonesian Food, Eating Competition, Street Food Ideas and also some challenges. You could check @lippomallkemang at Instagram or the website Lippo Mall Kemang to check the event schedule ;)

Food Vaganza itself is held from 9 March to 26 April, so you better hurry up and go there before the event ends!

My friend, posing at the Food Vaganza Huge Banner!

THE RESTAURANT

FOR FAMILY - THE DUCK KING

As I’m craving for duck *again* then our choice goes to The Duck King, located inside Lippo Mall Kemang, on the 1st Floor, Ducking has an open outdoor restaurant area that is pretty huge. Well, let’s go to the food review!

Bebek Panggang 1/2 ekor - IDR 120,000

No need to argue anymore, the roasted duck here taste super great! You could chew the duck meat easily, and in the end you can put the crispy skin inside your mouth, and feel that the duck fat is spreading all over your mouth. Uh yeah, Yummy!

Cakwe Gulung Mayo with Squid - IDR 68,000

Don’t judge a book by its cover maybe applies to this food. Don’t judge a food by the appearance. It may looks ordinary, but the taste will make you addicted! Served with a separate Mayonnaise bowl, you could dip the cakwe inside the mayo before finally eating it. Don’t worry, the size of the squid is huge, so you will be able to taste the richness of the squid!

Belut Goreng Chef Special - IDR 60,000

I never eat any other Belut except here in The Duck King. Because based on my experiences, in another restaurants, the eel is not crispy and the portion is always dissapointing.

Whereas here, in The Duck King, the portion is great, plus the eel is super crispy without any small bones or whatsoever. There’s also a black sauce as the gravy (I don’t know the sauce name) and trust me it taste super good with the eel!

Soup Jagung - IDR 48,000

Best served while hot, Duck King really knows how to make a soup. The texture is really smooth, and the corn is easy to chew. A perfect dish if you want to warm yourself, or having a flu, or even for your grandparents.

Baby Kaylan Bawang Putih - IDR 55,000

I’m not a vegetarian, but I always love to eat vegetables at the middle - high  restaurant. Why? Because the vegetables are perfectly cook and super crunchy! It didn’t taste bitter at all (I always wonder why… is it because of the cooking utensils?) That’s why I always eat vegetables while eating inside middle - high restaurant. For those who also not a vegetarian and a carnivorian just like me, try to eat vegetables on middle - high restaurant. You can fall in love with the taste, just like me!

I think this is a perfect choice in the Lippo Mall Kemang if you go here with your family and relatives. It offers more private space inside the restaurant, or you can just chill out outside with your family and having a family gossiping time, without bothering the winds / your surroundings. Even though you sit outside the restaurant, the location of The Duck King is located on the corner of the mall, so people won’t pass by around you.

FOR HANG OUT - KAFE BETAWI

For those who hang out with friends, I think the perfect choices would be the outdoor or open space restaurant. There are a lot of choices here, and because I am a “boarding house people” (read: anak kos-kosan) then my choice goes to Kafe Betawi, in the 1st floor of Kemang Village, outdoor / open space area.

Offering more affordable prices rather than the other restaurants, I could enjoy a great view outside or inside the restaurant, together with my friend. I choose inside because I love their wall wallpaper, it’s so vintage and antique! Besides, my friend is kinda feeling not really well, and the wind is a bit strong that day.

Lovely decoration, so Betawi!

Soto Mie - IDR 42,000

My friend order a Soto Mie, because she got a flu and she think it’s better to order a Soto. Yeah, I totally agree with her. A warm bowl of Soto Mie, with fresh tomato and beef slices would be really great! The taste of Soto Mie is perfect, and the beef is also a lot, too! What a perfect combination!

Mie Tek Tek - IDR 44,000

Mie Tek Tek in Jakarta is a bit different than in Surabaya. In Jakarta, the soup for Mie Tek Tek is creamier. I could say it’s more to a gravy rather than a soup. However, I really love the taste, it makes me feel home, and I never go home for this past 3 months T.T. I can taste the tender chicken underneath the noodle. The portion is just balance between the meat and the noodle. Thumbs up! I also ask for additional “cabe rawit potong” and the waiter respond super nicely! Thanks!

I really have a nice experience in Lippo Mall Kemang, I can’t wait to get back and chill out in the open space restaurant again!

Here’s a picture of me and my friend, with the background of Kafe Betawi’s antique wallpaper that I mention before!
Anyway, have I look like so Bali here? With all my messy bun hair plus my wide smile? Hahahaha!

HEY, There’s a Dining Voucher!

OH YES, you could purchase your Dining Voucher throughout the Food Vaganza Event on 9 March - 19 April, ONLY for IDR 100,000 and it is worth IDR 150,000 !!
Whooaaaa how cool is that?

Asik nih bisa hemat!

So what are you waiting for? Hurry up and enjoy the Food Vaganza event while you can, and make Lippo Mall Kemang as your “Bali” in Jakarta ;)

Masakan Indonesia Favorit Gue?

Inilah 5 masakan Indonesia favorit gue. Ayo dong, tunjukin mana makanan Indonesia favorit kamu bersama Indonesian Food Blogger serta Zomato !!

Makanan Berat

1. Nasi Pecel

Nasi Pecel Take away dari Mbok Ku!

2. Bebek Goreng

Makanan Ringan / Camilan

 4. Tahu Gejrot

Tahu Gejrot di D'gejrot, Golden Truly

Gue nggak pernah terlalu suka makan tahu, terkecuali tahu gejrot.

5. Ketan

Ketan Kelapa Susu Wijen di Ketan Pasar, Pasar Santa

Dulunya, gue sama sekali nggak suka dengan ketan. Hanya saja, nyokap gue dirumah tuh hobi banget makan ketan.

Es Cincau dari Penyetan Cok, Seger banget deh!

Ini ceritaku, mana ceritamu? *teringat sesuatu? Iya, ini produk Indonesia favorit gue! ;)

Hahahaha! I LOVE Indonesia!
