Malang : Bakmi Gang Djangkrik & Tretes Culinary :3

Living in Surabaya is just too hot. That's why Surabayanese people love to go out of town on the weekend.
Since my family from Jakarta came on Friday afternoon, and one of them is having an event in Malang, the rest of us decided to pick her up and doing some food hunting in Malang and also Tretes.

Malang and Tretes are located not too far from Surabaya. If you go here by private car, it only need 2 hours to get to Malang. I think it's also the same if you're going to Tretes.
FYI, Malang and Tretes is two different places, but the location is not that far each other.

We arrived on Malang around 11 am, and we decided to have lunch at "Bakmi Gang Djangkrik". It is a very famous noodle restaurant in Malang, you definitely must try this!

My favourite menu in here is the Cwie Mie Siobak (pict below) just look at the pork meat there. It's brown, it's oily, it's crunch, yummy! I can feel it sliding down through my throat *gulp*.

Cwie Mie Ayam

Cwie Mie is basically a noodle, but they’re a lot sweeter than just a regular noodle. Plus, the unique thing about Cwie Mie is the chicken. It comes in a very thin cut, and more like an “Abon” rather than a regular chicken. The cwie Mie ayam is best served with some pickels & chillies.

Siomay & Tahu

The colour of the soup is actually very clear, but I already add some soy sauce inside it, to add the flavor and it’s my way to eat soup. The siomay taste really great, I love the balance of the taste, and the tahu is super soft with a savory fillings too. A great combination between the noodles, and the side dish, hahaha.

Cwie Mie Siobak

For you who can eat pork, then this dish is a must. The crisp of the pork skin is super yum, and I love the fat under the skin. The pork meat itself is well cooked and super tender, easy to chew. Oh yum, I couldn’t ask for more!

Cwie Mie Siobak - My Favorite!!
Of course we didn't stop here! C'mon, it's a food hunting from the start.
We move to a place called "Alun-alun" the center place in Malang. In Alun-alun, usually people will gather around, bring their kids together, chit-chat, and there are lots of foods!

At first, we want to eat some sticky rice or Indonesian people call it "Ketan". It is serve together with some coconut and sugar powder. It's so delicious, especially when you enjoy it warm.
Unfortunately, we came at the wrong time. The stall will be open at 5, and we arrived at 12.
It's such a pity, I must stay, because me myself, I've been craving for that Ketan!

After hearing the bad news, we take a walk and see a very tasty meatball stall on the street.
We decided to stop by and try to eat there.
In Bahasa Indonesia, meatball is "Bakso", you can see it at the right picture, the circle one and we serve it with some fried stuffs "Gorengan", the brown one. of course, some herbs and noodles!
The Gorengan taste fine, but the meatballs... well I don't know why, I don't like it. I taste ginger when I eat it, and FYI, I hate ginger. I also confuse because as far as I know, meatballs doesn't contain ginger. So yeah, I only eat one bite of the meatball. But I recommend the "Gorengan"!

We also bought some milk at Gandhi Murni, it is also located near the "Alun-Alun".
I recommend you to buy the Vanilla flavour, it is the most delicious one!!
Sorry I didn't take a picture because I already drink it up and forget to take a pict.
Yeah, because it's just too delicious until I forget to click my cam, haha!

The last place that we go is Tretes. My Jakarta's family is craving for "Angsle", "Ronde", and also the satay in Tretes. I must say that it is delicious and it's kinda hard to find those foods in Surabaya.
That's why we go straight ahead until Tretes to eat it.

My favourite one is the Angsle! Ronde contains ginger, and I hate ginger. In conclusion, I hate Ronde. Hahaha
I also eat rabbit satay in Tretes. I recommend these foods if you go to Tretes :)
Angsle, contains of : "Santan, Mutiara, Roti, Ketan,Nangka"
If you don't want to eat, you can also buy some bananas at the Tretes' market.
Tretes has the best banana ever! It is sweet, tasty, and also in big size!
I never forget to buy bananas if I went to Tretes.

Today we already walk and eat. It was fun and I'm so full!

Thanks, reader(s)!
