Crab N Chef: When Alaskan meets Surabayanese Taste!

There’s suddenly this “Crab” happening among Surabaya people. 

There are 2 new crab restaurants that recently open in this town.

My friends and I decided to try the one in Manyar Kertoarjo, which is the Crab and Chef. It’s very easy to find this place. If you found Bonnet (there’s a name billboard on the top of the building), then you just need to turn left and Crab and Chef is at your left side.

Let’s review the food!

We order mud crab and also shrimps.

You can order whatever grams you want, it also depends on how many person your group is.

The waiter will suggest the right amount for you to order.

But if I’m not mistaken, the minimum grams of crab legs are 300grams, you can’t order less than that.

The Taste

It taste great! Even though it’s not that “Wow” but the taste blend really nicely with the mud crab & the shrimp. It’s just mine is not spicy enough (well, I should order the spicy one)

What’s Unique

You’ll eat without any plates at all! Yes, you will eat on the table.

But don’t worry, the table will be covered by a very thick food paper before you start eating.

Also, you can ask for an apron to wear while eating the crab.

The apron is not as good as I expected though, because it’s only made from plastic.

Ambiance

It’s really cozy. There aren’t many people when I got here, so I can eat as freely as I want. Hahahaha! You know, to eat a crab, you must give whatever power and lust you got and get your hands dirty!

The theme of the restaurant is really great too.

They pick up a sea, ship content for the whole restaurant.

There’s this one world map which I really like, you can spot it from the second floor!

There’s also a photo spot on the 1^st floor.

Paradise Dinasty: A True Paradise for Chinese Food Lovers!

I heard that they're really famous for its Xiao Long Bao, but I didn't eat one because I'm not really a fan of true xiao long bao (mix flavours, usually there are ginger, vegetables, pork > mostly, etc) 

Food 

Beef Sze-Chuan La-Mian - IDR 90,000

Caution: It's spicy!

For spicy food lovers, you definitely love this one!

For me, I don't really like it because the chilli flavour is just true strong for me 

(I can't eat a very spicy food)

The beef is really tender and the La Mian is actually really good.

My mom love it anyway. 

Ma Po ToFu - IDR 60,000

The tofu is really soft - it breaks when the chopsticks hit it on the side. 

The sauce is also great, but it contains ginger 

and yess, I don't eat ginger so I didn't really like it.

Well, my mom and dad love it very much 

I think it's my mom and dad eating time, isn't it? Because all the food is their fav, not mine. hahahaha!

Kungpao Prawn - IDR 80,000

Wow! I cannot stop eating this one.

The combination between the sauce and the prawns (yes, the size is big, don't worry) is really delicious! 

Take a look carefully at the dish, because there are so many almond nuts "Kacang Mente" hidden there! 

You won't miss it because the taste is also good!

BakPao

Hedgedog Bun - IDR 35,000

This one is really really cute until you won't eat this!

Inside this bun is a mix between chocolate and read bean - truly melts and warm.

I love the taste and also the filling, it's really rich.

Becareful because the filling is really full so it will spill around easily.

Ambiance

It's really crowded! Especially when it's lunch or dinner time.

So make sure to get your spot!

Service

The service is really great. The waiter is so helpful by helping us choose the menu and he explain the menu to us clearly and patiently. 

Anyway, check out their chopstick wrapper, have you eat your xiao long bao in a right way? ;)

Mandarin Oriental, The Cronut Heaven

I've heard about the legendary Mandarin Oriental for a long time.
And I think it's right if we name Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop the
"Cronut Heaven"

Located near Bundaran H.I in Jakarta, it's not that hard to find this place.

You just need to find the "japanese fan" look alike symbol between the skyscraper. 

Cronut Vanilla - IDR 42,500 (include tax)
Cronut Chocolate - IDR 42,500 (include tax)
I'll review both of  them in one time. 
Taste super duper great!! I think it's the best cronut I've ever heard so far. 
The texture is so crunchy outside, and the vla inside is really rich and smooth.
Melts in my mouth and my throat!
I cannot stop eating it!
The good thing about the Cronut in Mandarin is that, the Chef will cook it only when they got an order.
So if you go here, you'll always get a fresh cronut from the oven! 
We need to wait for about 20 mins to get the cronut, but it's all worth the taste!

Ambiance
When I got here, there are no people around - really, like none.
So it's like I rent the whole place that afternoon.
I really enjoy my time here. (especially with the cronut!)

Service
The service is also super duper nice!
Even though we didn't order any big meal there - yes, I specially came here just for the cronut - the waiter greet us properly and serve us really well. 
When the employee walk by, they throw a smile at us.
The waiter also help us take some pictures!

Oh my, I don't want to write so much because the more I write, the more I'm looking to the picture, the more I imagine, the more I crave for more cronut! *ups* but yes, that's how powerful it is!
